You come by your love of water from both your parents Catherine. If I can put in a vote for "most beautiful water place", I choose little known Wilcox Lake southwest of Flesherton. For your friends who sometimes travel north, the detour is absolutely worth it but take a good map!
Here is my description of the most breathtaking view I have ever seen:

Rounding the Bend - - - The map holds clues, C shape line curving around the tiny lake. Start at the bottom, hugging the circle of lake to your right. Water glistens in sunlight, pine trees line the shore opposite. How incredible, this little jewel in the middle of nowhere. In only seconds you will pass the five or so cottages fortunate to have this view on a daily basis. Far too soon you will reach the top of the C but you’ll want to look backwards forever.

Hey! Right near my place is Laurel Creek Conservation Area - it's a pond or a lake or something, and I'm pretty sure you can swim there.
