I am thankful for so many things, but the following are among some of the most important to me. I will try to remember how blessed my life is this weekend, as we celebrate this wonderful time of the year.
Warm and caring friends and family who have surrounded me throughout my life, especially in recent tough times.
The wonderful selection of food we have, and plenty of it to nurture us at all times.
Our beautiful son, who I feel so blessed to have had, and our daughter-to-be who I cannot wait to meet, and their father Stuart, my best friend, who is such a kind and loving husband and dedicated father.
The beauty of nature, and the ability to enjoy it so close to home.
Moments shared with family, and the memories these create.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I remember my Mom once telling me that her Grandmother used to say “if there’s enough blue sky to make a man’s shirt, it will be a nice day.” I love hearing the favorite expressions used by our elders, and indeed, I think this one does have some truth to it.
Liam and I went for a walk yesterday afternoon, under cloudy skies that had “just enough” blue. It was a wonderful walk despite a minor meltdown caused by Liam’s indecisiveness as to whether to keep walking, or go back to the park. Never-the-less, we enjoyed our stroll, camera in hand and I took several pictures along the way.
Walking with a toddler forces you to slow down (something many of us need to do more of) It makes you more aware of your environment, and the things in it which normally, you may take for granted or simply not even notice.
In these final days of calm before our second child arrives, I want to remember to notice the small things. I want to remember what it was like to be the mother of just one child. I want to focus on Liam as much as possible, play with him more, read more stories and cuddle him endlessly.
I want to slow down, and simply remember…
The lilacs are in full bloom at the University of Guelph’s Arboretum. What a beautiful display of colour, not to mention the wonderful aroma they produce! As we strolled down the paths, I wanted to take it all in. Nature is so often under appreciated, and I wanted to be sure to open all of my senses to it’s absolute loveliness…
These very same lilac buses are featured in many of our wedding photos, from June 1, 2002. Being there among them yesterday brought back such happy memories…
