Chai Spice Cake

Thank you Shelly Fisher for entering this recipe in my Cat Can Cook Recipe Contest in January. It’s her own invention!

Chai Spice Cake

18.25oz devils food cake mix
2/3 c vanilla chai spice coffee creamer
1 chai spice tea bag steeped in 2/3 c boiling water for 3 minutes
1/2 c canola oil
3 lg eggs
2 tsp chinese five spice powder divided
12 oz whipped buttercream frosting

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick baking spray.  In a medium mixing bowl, combine cake mix, creamer, chai tea, canola oil, eggs and 1 tsp five spice powder with electric mixer.  Pour batter into baking pan and bake 29-34 minutes until tester comes out clean.  Remove from oven  and cool cake completely.  In a small mixing bowl, with whisk attachment combine frosting and 1 tsp five spice powder.  Frost cake and cut into 12 pieces.
