The Secret

The Secret

I picked up a copy of “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne on the weekend…and I cannot put it down! What a wonderful, life transforming book. Based on the “Law of Attraction” and using the philosophies of great minds and inventors of the past and the present, the book promises great things to those who begin living their life in a positive way by attracting to their lives those things which they greatly desire by believing that they are completely attainable.  I know that I am really thinking about the areas of my life I would like to change, and I have already changed some of these recently.  I am inspired to do more, to be more, and to have more from this life.  What a wonderful feel-good book.

So much to think about, so simple yet so prolific!

Kinder Surprise?

 Kinder Egg

I’ll tell ya what the surprise is folks!  It’s how darn difficult it is to build these annoying little toys!

For starters, I probably shouldn’t even be giving these little chocolate confections to my 2 1/2 year old, but since he’s not really one to “mouth” everything, and he has developed a true passion for them, I give in time and time again!

Today’s “surprise” was a small spaceship. Even with detailed instructions, I could not put the darn thing together.  His response to my lack of co-ordination was “Daddy do it when he get home.”  If the pieces are still all in the same spot when he gets home, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

And now for something completely different…

I am cutting my post short a) because I can and b) because I am sick as a dog!  Third bug since we moved.  I chalk it up to stress and fatigue.  I hope to be back to “normal” soon…whatever normal is!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Man, when I see a picture like this, it makes me thankful that I had my kids one at a time!

Mommy Cat

Remember to thank your Mom tomorrow for all of the wonderful things she has done for you throughout your life. I think it took me having children of my own to realise what a difficult job it truly is, and to understand some of the sacrifices that Mothers make daily for their children. Of course, my own children are still very young, and I am only just beginning to understand the scope of what Motherhood entails, but I can definitely say that it’s a job unlike any other!

But when it comes to knowing my own Mother, I think I know her pretty well and as adults, we have become good friends as well as Mother and Daughter. My Mom is such an insightful and empathic person. She is a good listener, a deep thinker and a problem solver. She is a spiritually connected person. She is a teacher by occupation and at heart. She is a writer. She is a helper, and she offers guidance , love and support. She is sympathetic and cares about her family and friends. She is all of these things to me and my husband, my brother and to her Grandchildren. She is wise, and she shares her knowledge and advice. She loves us unconditionally.

Please remember to thank your Mom tomorrow. After all, you wouldn’t be here without her, and if she’s anything like MY Mom, you will certainly be glad that she is YOUR Mom!

Happy Mother’s Day!

We took our young aspiring “engineer-in-training” to a model train show on Sunday. He LOVED it so much, that he spent the first 1/2 of it intensely grinding his teeth as he watched in amazement. Liam has been fascinated by trains since he was about 18 months old. He loves Thomas, model trains, real-life size trains…anything on the topic!

And speaking of passions, I LOVE music, and have since I was a child. In fact, in cleaning out my Grandmother’s apartment, my Mom came across a recording of my brother and I singing as small children. As a youngster, I was involved in many choirs, and I also took piano lessons. Although I foolishly gave them up, I miss playing, and I am determined to re-learn this beautiful instrument! So, I bought myself a new toy a week after we moved in to our new house…
