Making Flavoured Cream Cheeses
Have you ever played with your food? I have! In fact, it’s what I do best. I love trying new ideas, and making new and interesting things in my kitchen. Recently, I thought I’d try making flavoured cream cheese, so I took 1 package of Cream Cheese (250g) and added in about 1 1/2 TSBP of black currant jam. Yum! A great tasting cream cheese spread for crackers, bagels or even on toast or a muffin.
Cream cheese seems to get a bad rap for being unhealthy, but if you look at the ingredients, really, it’s not all that bad, especially if you get the light variety which has a lot less fat.
Don’t be afraid to experiment, and try new things – that’s what makes cooking so much fun. You just never know what you might come up with! Why not make a veggie cream cheese, with finely chopped carrots, celery and spring onions, and your favorite fresh herbs like parsley and cilantro? Herbs and spices, sauces, condiments – just play around with them, you’ll be amazed at what you can do!

Ohhh, you’ve got me thinking!!! Lemon poppy seed cream cheese on toast and Orange cream cheese on cranberry bread, and….Man, this is going to be delicious experimentation!!!
What a great idea, my boys love cream cheese maybe we will have some for lunch!!
