I want to see as many entries on this one as possible. Since it is the beginning of the back to school season, let’s keep with that theme, shall we? To ENTER, you MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ONTARIO, CANADA – leave a brief answer to the following question:
What will you do as a parent to ensure your baby gets off to a great start when they are ready to begin school?
Enter in comments below! Remember Ontario residents only please this time!
I will randomly draw from entries, and select a winning one Friday, Sept 7th! I have to moderate comments manually, so please be patient with me 😉
Good Luck Everybody!
I will make sure he loves to learn. Something new everyday, big or small. There are so many exciting experiences that are waiting for him. I want him to be curious and confident enough to actively seek them out.
I have one baby going into SK this year, one starting JK, and one more little boy set to be born two weeks after school begins, so both the great prize and questions are perfect for us. We spend a lot of time reading, and having a special book in his pack will make Boy #1 feel right at home in a new classroom. Boy #2 loves to eat, so he will have a healthy and delicious snack to look forward to during class, and Boy #3 will get all his brothers have gotten plus their protective presence when he’s ready to start school.
We plan to begin teaching our little one as soon as he/she can understand – one thing we learned from homeschooling friends is that there’s always a good time to learn something!
I have always done the whole school shopping experience to help get them excited. I also start the learning process early with “school time” at home so they understand what school is for and also be educated in some areas before. I have a 14 (yikes) year old and 3 year old and a 5 month old. I have already purchased the learning books to start “school time” with my 3 year old next week. Make learning fun and be there to help when they need it.
Since my son has started at the YMCA he has grown leaps and bounds! I feel like putting him in a play and learn atmosphere is setting him up for success when he begins school next year!
I am currently pregnant with my first and due in February. I would make sure my child is well socialized, confident and excited when entering school. And I would be there to help in any way I could. Thanks! 🙂
Being a first time Mom to a baby girl who is now almost 5 months old, I hope that my teachings to her about “please” and “thank you” will stay with her the rest of her life. Respect and thoughtfulness for everyone, including the elderly, should be taught at a young age that should stay with each individual at all times. This was taught to myself at a young age from my parents, so teaching it to my daughter is a compliment to my child’s grandparents.
I socialize my babies at the Best Start Hub. It’s basically a big playgroup with several different activities for baby to explore beside and with other children. Other then that…lets hope my youngest uses the school potty just like he has recently learned at home(December baby…and likes to learn at his own pace).
My baby is only 5 months old currently but with September here I have thought about the future when he will be ready to go to school. When he goes I hope that I have taught him manners, to share and to be nice to everyone. I want him to have a love of learning and reading especially. I hope that he is confident and able to be on his own just as well as he can play with others.
I have 4 children, two of which are already in school. The older ones are very polite, well rounded individuals, who are able to cope with groups and play independently. My hope is that my younger two will be just as polite, and be as self confident.
Ten entrants – just a small group this time!
